WRCOG & Beaumont to bring lawsuits against company Urban Logic

June 22, 2017 - The City of Beaumont and WRCOG have been harmed by the financial schemes of Urban Logic and its former officials. These officials and others have been arrested and the District Attorney is prosecuting them for some of their wrongdoing. Their acts have caused tens of millions of dollars of harm to the City and WRCOG.

The City and WRCOG intend to hold these individuals and Urban Logic accountable for their actions - and to ensure that it does not happen again. In its lawsuit, the City alleges that Urban Logic and its former owners engaged in improper activities and self-dealing that resulted in Urban Logic receiving approximately $85 million from the City. The City and WRCOG lawsuits require Urban Logic and its former owners to pay back the millions they made through these improper activities and to compensate the City of Beaumont and WRCOG for the damages caused by their conduct.

The City and WRCOG have reached a settlement of the lawsuit brought by WRCOG and resulted in a $67 million judgment against the City, and are no longer in conflict with each other. Now that the City and WRCOG have resolved their dispute, they are working together to pursue those who profited from wrongdoing.

Urban Logic had the audacity to sue the City last month asking for even more money from City taxpayers. The City is working with WRCOG pursuant to its settlement agreement and because of WRCOG’s expertise and resources to uncover the fraudulent activities. This combined effort will not stop or delay the District Attorney’s ongoing prosecutions.
